Red Bay baseball season comes to end in semis

It was a bittersweet end to the baseball season for the Red Bay Tigers.

The Red Bay Tigers baseball team’s season came to an end at the hands of area rival Mars Hill in the Class 2A semifinals.

The Panthers swept the Tigers, beating them 4-1 in game one and 6-2 in game two.

In game one, the Tigers managed three hits, including a double by Dallas Terrell, who came around to score on a single by Ty Reynolds.

Jeremiah Thorne had a solid outing on the mound, allowing five hits, three of which were doubles, and struck out eight.

In game two, senior Eli Farris hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth, Reynolds reached on a walk, and Reed Hamilton singled. Carson McGee hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring Reynolds for the Tigers’ second run.

On the mound, Reynolds allowed six hits and struck out six.

Red Bay’s season ends with a record of 21-9.
