RCS plans Veterans Day program
Russellville City Schools are getting ready for their annual Veterans Day program to honor those who have served in the armed forces.
It will take place Nov. 10, kicking off with a breakfast from 8-8:25 a.m. for veterans and their guests in the small rehearsal hall in the fine arts building next to the RCS Auditorium. RHS FACS teacher Cindy Coan and her event planning students are handling the reception.
At 8:30 a.m., the public program – a joint effort between Russellville Middle School and Russellville High School – will take place in the RCS Auditorium, starting with the guest speaker, Sgt. 1st Class Robbie Richardson.
RMS students will sing “Thank a Veteran.” RHS students will sing a patriotic medley. Both groups will perform the “Armed Forces Salute.” RHS JROTC students, under the direction of Sgt. 1st Class Randy Ozbirn, will post the colors.
“We’re always excited to hold this program each year,” explained RHS musical theatre teacher Patrice Smith. “We want to make sure our veterans know they are invited so they can be there. We love holding this event because it’s an opportunity for us to pause and thank them and their families for their sacrifices so we can show our gratitude for all that they have done for us.”
