Bulldog teams bring home area titles

The Belgreen girls and boys both won their Class 1A, Area 14, championship games Thursday night, and both teams will host a subregion game next week.
The Belgreen boys easily defeated the Phillips Bears 75-34 to capture the varsity boys title.
Belgreen led Phillips 22-7 at the end of the first quarter and had the game in hand at halftime, 42-14.
Collin Bonner led Belgreen with 23 points, followed by Will Bonner with 20 points.
In varsity girls action at Hackleburg, Belgreen beat Hackleburg 46-38.
Belgreen led Hackleburg 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and 26-17 at halftime. The Bulldogs led 35-28 at the end of the third quarter.
Noelle Willingham and Dacota Green led Belgreen with 18 points and 16 points respectively.
Belgreen’s boys will host the loser of the R.A. Hubbard/Covenant Christian game in the subregion Tuesday.
The Belgreen girls will host the loser of the Shoals Christian/Covenant Christian game either Monday or Tuesday.
