Red Bay sweeps Collinsville

The Red Bay Tigers advanced to the second round of the Class 2A baseball playoffs with two convincing wins over Collinsville Monday. The Tigers beat Collinsville 10-3 and 23-8.

Game one of the series was tight until late in the game. Collinsville led Red Bay 2-0 through four and a half innings, but the Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning and then put the game away with four runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to win 10-3.

Kolby Bragwell pitched a complete game and struck out nine. Bragwell allowed two hits and three earned runs. Bragwell also had a single and two RBIs and scored a run.

Peyton Green had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Chase Allen doubled, had two RBIs and scored two runs. Cade McKinney had a single and double, an RBI and a run. Colbie King doubled and scored twice. Kaleb Bragwell scored twice. Alex Burroughs had two RBIs.

In game two, Red Bay started the game hot and ended the game on fire. The Tigers scored eight runs in the first inning and 13 runs in the seventh inning to blow out Collinsville 23-8.

Red Bay scored the 23 runs on 14 hits and took advantage of five Collinsville errors.

Allen got the win for the Tigers, striking out seven batters.

Several Tigers had big games at the plate, but none more so than Kolby Bragwell, who had three hits, including two doubles and five RBIs, and scored three runs.

Allen had two hits and two RBIs and scored three times. Green singled and doubled, had an RBI and scored a run. McKinney had two hits and two RBIs, and scored twice. Zac Humphries had a hit and two RBIs and scored twice.

Kaleb Bragwell scored four runs and had two RBIs. Burroughs scored three runs and had three RBIs.

Red Bay will host Sulligent in the second round of playoffs April 26. The first game with start at 5 p.m., followed by the second game at 7:30 p.m.
