Stay safe this storm season

March through May is the typical tornado season for the state of Alabama, and severe storms have already taken place this year. In light of this season of storms, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office released an updated list of storm shelters in the county and cities so everyone knows their options should they need to seek shelter.

Russellville City Storm Shelters

  • Parks and Recreation Building – 201 Ashe Ave.
  • Old Junior High School Lot – 511 Gaines Ave.
  • Fire Department Station 2 – 15938 Highway 43 N.
  • Westside Plaza Apartments – 1100 Adams Ave.
  • Courthouse – 410 Jackson Ave. N.
  • United Methodist Church – 311 Jackson Ave. N.
  • Chucky Mullins Center 442 Hamilton St.
  • Lee Sports Complex – 1851 Lawrence St. E.
  • Dillard Hollow – 90 Dillard Hollow Road
  • City Lake Drive – 1559 City Lake Drive, behind lower concession stand

Phil Campbell City Storm Shelters

  • Community Center – 132 Sherry Bryce Drive
  • First Baptist Church – 3550 Broad St.

Red Bay City Storm Shelters

  • Tiny Tigers Preschool – 1100 4th NE
  • Methodist Church – 509 4th SW (pet-friendly)
  • Water Park – 640 2nd NE, two shelters
  • Old Airport – 627 9th NW
