THS teams fall to Tanner

Brooke Daily and Shaylee Wieting scored 12 points each in a 49-41 area loss to the Tanner Rattlers last week.

Tharptown led Tanner 9-8 at the end of the first quarter and led by two points, 20-18, at halftime, but Tanner outpaced Tharptown 16-11 in the third quarter to take a 34-31 lead into the final period of play. Tanner wouldn’t relinquish the lead, outscoring the Wildcats 15-10 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Gracie Montgomery added five points for Tharptown. Aly Vandiver and Adrianna Borden contributed four points each.

In the varsity boys game, Tharptown jumped out to 15-10 first quarter lead but couldn’t hold on. Tanner outscored Tharptown 54-28 from that point to lead 30-23 at halftime and 45-30 at the end of the third quarter en route to the area win.

Edward Lopez led Tharptown with 20 points, and Winston Nolen followed with 15 points. Carson Petree finished with four points, Colton Simmons with three points and Ruben Alfaro with one point.
