Smith Animal Clinic opens in Red Bay

Dozens of community members turned out Sept. 29 for the grand opening of Smith Animal Clinic in Red Bay.

Franklin County native Lindsey Turbyfill Smith officially opened the doors to the clinic Aug. 14 – only about a week later than she had originally planned, she said.

“It went by pretty fast, but some days it felt so slow,” Smith said.

She made the decision in February to strike out on her own and open the animal clinic.

“I’ve always known I wanted to have my own animal clinic, and I just had a wild hair and decided now was the time,” she said.

Smith graduated from Vina High School in 2006 and then attended Northwest-Shoals Community College for two years before transferring to Mississippi State University, where she finished her education and became a veterinarian. She worked at two clinics in Mississippi for two years before making the decision to move back to Franklin County.

“I wanted to get back close to home,” she said.

Her husband, Daniel, is from Mississippi, and together they have two daughters, Finley and Emma.

“The saying it takes a village to raise a family is completely true,” Smith said. “We couldn’t have done it without our family and friends helping us.”

It has been a rollercoaster ride, Smith added, but she said she is excited to be back a part of the Franklin County community and offer her services.
