Big inning lifts Tharptown past Shoals Christian

Shaylee Wieting was on fire for the Tharptown Wildcats last week in a 9-2 win over the Shoals Christian Flame.

Wieting singled in the second inning, doubled in the fourth, singled in the fifth and singled in the seventh to complete a four-for-four afternoon, scoring four runs in the process.

Wieting got the Wildcats on the board first in the top of the first inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Brooke Daily.

Tharptown scored two more runs in the top of the second inning when Aly Vandiver and Wieting scored on an error by the Shoals Christian third baseman to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead.

Shoals Christian scored one run in the bottom of the second inning. Wieting scored again in the top of the fourth to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead.

Shoals Christian scored again in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 4-2.

Tharptown broke away in the top of the seventh inning, scoring five runs. Wieting scored her fourth run of the game on a double by Taylor Cameron.  Later in the inning, Ameilah Dawson hit a three-run home run to deep center field scoring Cameron and Daily.

Cameron and Dawson both had four RBIs in the game.

Olivia Ergle got the win, pitching a complete game, giving up only five hits and two runs and striking out 10 batters.
