Dempsey Foundation to host benefit

Aug. 5, the Dempsey Foundation will be holding its annual dinner and silent auction at the Weatherford Centre.
The silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. The dinner and entertainment will begin at 7:15 p.m., with entertainment featuring the Dr. Eric Kirkman Band from Sheffield.
This year’s goal is to raise funds that will be used to upgrade Red Bay Hospital’s blood pressure monitoring equipment for the emergency department.
Charlene Fancher, an administrative assistant at Red Bay Hospital, said, “This event is important because it’s where the foundation raises money to purchase equipment for the hospital.” On average, 175 people attend each year, so it is generally a packed event. “We have 22 tables with seating for eight people per table.”
Fancher personally enjoys meeting and greeting people at the event. “I’m a city council member, and it’s just great to see all of these people getting together.” The most enjoyable part for most people is, of course, to win an item from the auction.
The entertainment is always exciting too, Fancher said. “We don’t get many kinds of entertainment out here, so it’s great to have someone come out,” said Fancher.
Getting an event such as this organized is no small feat. It takes many months of planning and a team effort from the hospital staff. “Many people came together several months ago and began brainstorming for this, such as ideas for the entertainment,” Fancher said.
There are multiple levels of sponsorship available for this event.
Presenting Sponsor ($2,500) is the highest level. Presenting Sponsors will receive two reserved tables for eight closest to stage, recognition as a presenting sponsor and recognition on the event program.
Event Sponsors ($1,500) receive a reserved table for eight, recognition as an event sponsor, recognition in all event promotions and recognition in the event program.
Auction Sponsors ($1,000) receive a reserved table for eight, recognition as an auction sponsor, recognition in all event promotions and recognition in the event program.
People can also just reserve tables for $500 or just buy tickets for $75 per seat.
Every little bit helps the hospital in some way, so no one should feel like they can’t help. Even a small donation can go a long way in helping the hospital purchase the equipment needed.
