RBHS students make prom promise
Red Bay High School SADD students sign their classmates up for a responsible prom experience.

An important rite of passage in the life of any high school student is prom. This date is set aside on the calendar for many months, and a great deal of work is put into prom by sponsors and students. While prom is a night students will never forget, unfortunately it can also be a night when students make poor choices that have life-altering consequences.
Red Bay High School SADD is hoping to prevent students from making bad choices the night of prom by hosting Prom Promise. Each year juniors and seniors at RBHS attend this event. The purpose of Prom Promise is to deter risky behaviors.
“It is important for students to care and be concerned for themselves and their friends and pledge they will not drink or use drugs or ride with someone who has been drinking or using drugs,” said SADD sponsor Dr. Kay Hargett.
Hargett said another essential component of the program is to encourage students to wear their seatbelts and to not speed or ride with someone who speeds.
“The goal of Red Bay High School and SADD is that every student will have the safest prom ever and vow to celebrate life wisely,” said Hargett.
