Golden Tigers net big tennis wins

The Russellville High School Tennis team played Brooks Tennis team March 8 at Brooks. Boys top six played against the top six players in the singles matches at Brooks, winning with a 10-0 sweep. Caleb Mayfield won with the set score of 10-3. Josh Williams won 10-7. Jake Williams won 10-2. Levi Hargett won with the score 10-1. Will Walker won 10-0, as did Porter James,10-0.
In boys doubles Mayfield and Josh Williams won their match 10-4. Jake Williams and Hargett won their match 10-2. James and Jesus Betancourt won 10-1 for an RHS triumph over Brooks with the combined score of 9-0.
The RHS girls also played Brooks March 8 with more mixed results. In the singles matches, Grace Mitchell won 8-5. Maleia Gist beat her opponent 8-2. Lariza Garcia DelGado lost her set, 4-8. Addie Scruggs also lost, 1-8, as did Rebecca Parrish, 3-8. Emma Claire Bragwell lost 1-8 as well.
In girls doubles, Mitchell and Gist won 8-2; DelGado and Scruggs lost 1-8 and Parrish and Bragwell won their match 8-2. The RHS girls fell short to Brooks, 4-5.
