FCSO charges two following ‘target practice’ mishap

Jose & Thomas Torres

Jose & Thomas Torres

Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Tomas Solano Torres, 28, Russellville, and Jose Solano Torres, 20, Russellville, were arrested Sunday for shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The brothers were reportedly having “target practice” at Tomas Torres’ house on County Road 48, east of Russellville.

Investigators said the men were shooting at a metal building when bullets went through the building and one ended up in a neighbor’s house.

Investigators said the bullet went through the home’s exterior and lodged in a wall in the living room near where a woman was sitting.

Oliver said it scared him to think what might have happened if the bullet had been just a few feet over, and he stressed the importance of gun safety.

Oliver said after the brothers were arrested, it was discovered that Tomas Torres is in the country illegally and could be deported.

Currently, the two men are being held in the Franklin County Jail.
