PC receives $100K grant

PHIL CAMPBELL – The town of Phil Campbell is getting closer to completing necessary sewer improvement projects thanks to the continued support from state officials and agencies.

Sen. Roger Bedford recently announced that he has secured a $100,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic Affairs for the town of Phil Campbell.

The funding will assist the town in the replacement of two sewer pump stations.

“I’m proud that through our efforts, we were able to secure much needed funding for the town of Phil Campbell,” Bedford said.

“This grant will enable Phil Campbell to continue to provide outstanding infrastructure to the citizens of that community.

“I want to thank ADECA Director Jim Byard and the Appalachian Regional Authority for their cooperation in meeting the needs of the citizens of my Senate District.”

Phil Campbell Mayor Steve Bell said the grant will help fund the on-going sewer projects the town has been involved with since the tornado caused damage to the system in April 2011.

“The grants we have received are allowing us to refurbish two sewer lift stations,” Bell said.

Bell said these improvements, as well as other improvements previously made, were necessary for the town and for their continued pursuit of new industry.

Bedford said the funding of the project is a cooperative effort between the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the Appalachian Regional Commission.
