Mohr seeks Place 3 seat on PC Council

My name is Melissa Kinard Mohr and I am running for Phil Campbell City Council Place #3.
My parents are Gerald Kinard of Vina and Barbara Ergle Kinard of Phil Campbell. I am a single mother of two boys, Jeremy who graduated from Phil Campbell High School in 2010, and Denver who is currently a sophomore at Phil Campbell.
I have worked two jobs since I was 18 years old, so I am not a stranger to hard work. I have been employed at Ambulance Billing Service for the last seven years. My duties there include running the day to day operations and manage our 10 full time team members and two part time team members. I am also a National Registered Paramedic and have volunteered with the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad for the last 14 years. I earned this degree from Northwest-Shoals Community College.
I am also on the board of directors of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce to which I have served as the treasurer for the last two years. I also serve on the Phil Campbell Park and Recreation Board and have done so for the last five years. I serve as treasurer for the Franklin County Fire and Rescue Squad Association.
I enjoy the simple things in life with family and friends as well as traveling. I feel that our current Councilmen and Mayor have had to deal with the worst imaginable circumstances during their terms and I believe they did the best they could. The reason I am campaigning for the position of Place #3 is I feel that I could make a difference by contributing new ideas for our future. I want to help make our town grow and bring stability that I know we all wish for.
I was born and raised in this town and I decided that I want to raise my children here. I would like to have the chance to make way for my grandchildren to live and work here as well as future generations. During the disaster of April 27, 2011, I was here on the front lines. We all, as a community, had to see things that no person should have to deal with. I have a new understanding about how sewer and water systems work in a small town. I have a better understanding of how important it is to update water and sewer systems and by doing this hopefully our town will attract and bring more industry in. I have knowledge of grant writing and the importance of government funding.
There are funds available to rebuild our downtown buildings to bring new shops and business to our downtown area. We have a saying at the Chamber of Commerce of “Shop Franklin County.”
We need to have stores and shops here in Phil Campbell and start a new saying, “Shop Phil Campbell.”
The more we have available in our area producing dollars, the more our town will prosper. Again I am running for Phil Campbell City Council Place #3 and I would like to ask for your support on August 28. I have some great ideas that I would like to bring to our town.
I don’t or won’t make you any promises. All I can tell the citizens of Phil Campbell is that I will always have time to listen to your concerns. Although we may not agree every time, I can assure you that any decision made will be prayed about and will be made in the best interest of our town.
