Ceremony marks six month anniversary of tornado
The Northwest Alabama Long Term Recovery Committee will host a Day of Remembrance and Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, October 27 at 3:15 p.m. at the Housing Resource Center, located at 200 Indies St. in Hackleburg.
A balloon release at the designated times the tornadoes hit Hackleburg, Phil Campbell and surrounding areas will be held. The group will also be celebrating the grand opening of the Housing Resource Centers located in Hackleburg and Phil Campbell. These centers, which are the first of their kind in the state, have been established to help meet the long term financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those affected by the April 27 tornadoes.
Local dignitaries will be in attendance and the special guest speakers scheduled to appear include Governor Robert Bentley and Senator Roger Bedford.
