Teen indicted on theft, burglary charges

A Russellville man’s charges for burglary and theft were upheld by a recent grand jury.

Tyler Blake Garrison, 19, 1550 Tyler Avenue, was indicted on charges of first-degree theft of property, first-degree receiving stolen property, third-degree burglary, second-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a controlled substance by the November grand jury.

According to authorities, officers with the Russellville Police Department were called to a residence on Burgess Street on Aug. 27 when the homeowner returned from work and discovered that she had around $2,000 in change missing from her home.

While officers were searching the scene, investigators discovered a cell phone in the homeowner’s bedroom that did not belong to anyone in the residence.

After obtaining personal information from the cell phone, officers called a number from the recently dialed numbers list and discovered the phone belonged to Garrison. Investigators also discovered that a person matching the defendant’s description had spent a significant amount of time at the change machine inside Russellville Wal-Mart, officials said.

A short time later, officers with the RPD located the defendant at a local convenience store. The stolen property was recovered and Garrison was arrested, officials said.

According to Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing, Garrison’s case will be set for arraignment in January.
