Authorities looking into man’s death

Investigators are trying to determine if a man whose body was pulled from Bear Creek in Colbert County late Thursday is that of a Red Bay man missing since Nov. 22.

Authorities began searching last weekend for Michael LaShane Harris, 31, of Franklin 11 in Red Bay.

A body was pulled from Bear Creek just before 5 p.m. Thursday, but authorities say they will need an autopsy to determine the man’s identity.

Calls made to 911 on Nov. 22 indicate that a fight was about to take place on a bridge near the site of the area where the body was located.

Alabama Bureau of Investigation agents have been trying to develop information about Harris. At press time, no identification had been made.
