Red Bay man arrested on sex abuse charges

RED BAY – A local man is still in custody after being arrested Friday on sexual abuse charges.
Milton O’Neal Humphries, 62, 422 Highway 128, Lot B, Red Bay, was arrested on two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
According to investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the victims were 6- and 8-year-old females who lived near the defendant during the time of the abuse.
Authorities said Humphries is accused of allowing the children to come into his bedroom and fondle him over a period of six to eight months.
The mother of the girls found information about the incidents in one of the girls’ diaries, officials said.
She immediately reported the abuse to officials with the Department of Human Resources who then contacted the sheriff’s department.
After an investigation and an interview with the defendant on Friday, Humphries admitted to the incidents and was arrested, officials said.
Humphries remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
