Caleb Mitchell earns national, conference recognition
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Former Russellville High School standout — and current member of the Tennessee Tech football team — Caleb Mitchell earned conference and national recognition for his play against Eastern Illinois last week.
Mitchell and teammate Marcus Edwards shared Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors as well as the Sports Network/Fathead.com Football Championship Subdivision National Co-Defensive Players of the Week honors.
Mitchell intercepted a pair of passes and forced a fumble in the Golden Eagles’ 34-20 win.
He returned his first interception 36 yards for a touchdown. He his second interception came in the end zone to prevent an Eastern Illinois touchdown.
Mitchell also recorded seven total tackles, one tackle for a loss and a sack.
Mitchell is eighth on the team with 27 total tackles this season.
