Robert Leonard Clement, 85, of Russellville passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at his residence.
Robert was a lifetime Christian who loved God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. He left this earth age to live with his loved ones that have preceded him to his eternal home. We all should prepare to go there to meet Robert and other loved ones.
Robert was a World War II Navy Veteran having been awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal of World War II. He was retired from Civil Service with Redstone Arsenal after 31 plus years. He was a life member of National Active & Retired Federal Employees, American Legion Post #31, Masonic Lodge of Russellville and Friends of LaGrange.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Speaking at the service was Brian Clement Patrick and Clifford Miles. Interment was in Old Bethel Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Richard and Junnie Warren Clement who passed away in 1933; and his brother, James M. Clement (also a World War II Navy Veteran) who passed away in 1949.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Della Hammack Clement; daughters, Regina Patrick and husband, Walker, Beverly Franklin and husband, Joe, both of Huntsville; brother, Roy A. Clement and wife, Dorothy, of Russellville; grandsons, Alan Richard Patrick, Timothy Walker Patrick, Brian Clement Patrick and wife, Laura, Adrian Russell Patten III, Robert Ashley Patten and friend, Kelly Dickens, all of Huntsville; Jeremy Allen Franklin and wife, Catherine, of Birmingham; great-granddaughters, Amelia Patrick, Tatum Franklin, Kylie Franklin; great-grandsons, David Patrick, Tyler Patten; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth H. Smith and husband, Buryl, Winona H. Logan and husband, Bobby Joe, Peggy Hammack, Sue Hammack, brothers-in-law, John Hammock and wife, Sue, Jim Hammack and wife, Mary; special neighbor and friends, Curtis Wolf, Oneal Uptain; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Ray Clement, William Howard Clement, Roy Eugene Clement, Lloyd Ray Manasco, Elvis Manasco, Dr. Steven Hammack, Cam DeArman, Tommy Hammock, Perry Hammock, Todd Hammock, Anthony Logan, James McCullar, Roger Encheif, Carl Smith, Howard Lorence, James M. Clement, Jr. Ausie Clement, Jr., Robert Wamles, Billy James Hammock, Mike Vincent, and fellow Masons.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Southern Care Hospice, Ruby Sheffield, and Roseanne Knight for the love and care shown towards our family.
