Helen C. Barksdale, 69, of Red Bay, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born April 16, 1941 in Marion County, Ala. to Albert Harold and Ethel Rosella Palmer Cantrell. She was a housewife.

Funeral services were held Sept. 5, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Woodrow Taylor and Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating.  Burial was in Halltown Cemetery in Vina, Ala.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Barksdale, of Red Bay; three sons, Terry Barksdale and Mike Barksdale and wife, Christine, all of Vina, and Tim Barksdale, of Golden, Miss.; one daughter, Vicki Burgett and husband, Shawn, of Vina; three sisters, Mavis Holley, of Haleyville, Ala., Essie Smith, of Hamilton, Ala. and Hazel Riggs, of Bigfork, Mont.; one brother, Kermit Cantrell, of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kristie Fountain, Beth Barksdale, Manly Barksdale, MaRanda Burgett, Landen Burgett, Brandy Horn, John Barksdale and Jessie Barksdale; four  great-grandchildren, Paris Fountain, Isabella Fountain, Alyse Fountain and Nazaryah Fountain; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers were Jody Cantrell, Paul Holley, Don Cantrell, Wade Inmon, Donny Holland and Dean Scott.
