W.A. Powell, 64, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services were held July 16, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Charlie Britnell officiating.  Burial was in Dempsey Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Rex Powell, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Jewell Powell; daughters, Sherry Powell Cooper, Kristi May Powell (Scott), of Spruce Pine; grandchildren, Sheena Powell, Leah Cooper, Ethan May, Samantha May; brothers, Ray Powell, Gary Powell; sister, Jane Gregoire; mother, Jessie Mae Powell.

He was a retired mechanic from TVA who loved gardening, fishing, and camping. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
