Floia Swatzell

June 21, 2010

FLOIA LEAGUE SWATZELL, age 82 of Murfreesboro, Tenn., passed away Monday June 21, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was born on November 12, 1927 in Haleyville. Mrs. Swatzell had been a resident of Murfreesboro for about 25 years and recently moved to Stones River Manor Assisted Living.
Mrs. Swatzell worked and owned her own clothing store for many years in Haleyville. When she moved to Murfreesboro, she went to work for Peebles and later worked and retired from Rich Products. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Cason Lane Church of Christ.
Mrs. Swatzell was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lucy Kidd League; sister, Arlene King, and brothers, Murphy and Austin League. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, John Swatzell.
Mrs. Swatzell is survived by her son Mark Swatzell of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Susan Wood and her husband Ronald, and granddaughter, Ashley Wood all of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Rachel League of Haleyville, law Jean League of Decatur and Bertha Swatzell of Huntsville, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who Floia loved greatly.
Visitation will be before the service from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bill Cavender officiating. Burial and graveside service will be 1PM Friday at Winston Memorial Cemetery, Haleyville with Steve Tidwell officiating.
