The first lady of Alabama football shared stories about her national championship-winning husband and encouraged the community to help others in need during a visit to the county Thursday evening.
Terry Saban, the wife of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban, was the guest speaker at the annual Quinn’s Ranch benefit dinner Thursday night.
Saban, a former school teacher, has partnered with several organizations to raise money for the charity, Nick’s Kids, which he helps operate with her husband.
Shea Lowery, who has been the director of the ranch since its inception, met Saban two years ago while working on a story for a football magazine that she publishes.
“She is just a wonderful lady who loves to help people,” Lowery said.
Saban shared many anecdotes about her famous husband and the “process” that he has used to build Alabama back into a national power, which includes winning the 2009 national championship.
“When you bring people together who care about the same thing, you can’t help but feel like we are all a team,” she said, referring to the dinner that benefits Quinn’s Ranch, which is a boys’ home in Red Bay.
Because Quinn’s Ranch is a Christ-centered home, they are ineligible to receive federal funding and rely solely on donations and fundraisers, such as the annual dinner.
