Russellville native Nathan Strickland has joined the Franklin County Times' staff as a general assignment reporter.
Strickland began working at the FCT on Nov. 9.
He is a 2003 graduate of Russellville High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of North Alabama, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Strickland completed two internships with Huntsville-based television stations, WAFF 48 and WHNT 19.
He also contributed to the UNA school newspaper, The Flo-ALA.
"We are excited to have someone with Nathan's background here at the Times," FCT publisher Jonathan Willis said.
"He has a good grasp of this community, having lived here all of his life, and he knows what is important to our readers. I think he will be well-received in the community and I look forward to seeing what he's capable of."
Strickland is the son of Randy and Nancy Strickland, of Russellville.
He is married to the former Amy Rackard of Red Bay.
"I'm excited and ready to take on this career as a journalist," Strickland said.
"I'm very blessed to be able to begin my journey in journalism here in my hometown."
