Basketball season opens

The high school varsity basketball season begins this week with five f the six area schools playing.
Belgreen opened the season Tuesday night against Marion County and will host Covenant Christian Thursday and Mars Hill Friday.
Also playing Thursday is Vina, which travels to Phillips.
Friday's games include Phil Campbell hosting Phillips, Red Bay at Belmont and Tharptown at Hatton.
Russellville begins its season next Tuesday when it hosts Florence.
