Vina falls 76-52 in season finale

FAYETTE – As a team Vina rushed for 324 yards, but could not match the offensive output of Hubbertville's senior tailback Thomas Haley-Ricks who rushed for 518 yards and accounted for eight touchdowns to lead his team to a 76-52 victory against the Red Devils.
Brent Townsend opened the Vina scoring on a 27-yard run and then passed to Cass White for the two-point conversion. Later in the first quarter he found Adam Pharr for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Townsend's run on the two-point play was successful.
The Red Devils (2-8, 2-6) added three scores in the second quarter. The first was a 9-yard run by Channing Haithcock and Townsend hit Pharr for the two-point conversion.
Townsend then hooked up with White for a 46-yard scoring pass, but the point after failed. White caught another scoring pass, this one from 48 yards out. The point after attempt failed again.
Vina added another score in the third on a 2-yard run by Townsend. He also scored on the two-point play. White made the key play in the drive by rushing for a first down on a fake punt.
Townsend scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth to end the Vina scoring.
He completed 10 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the leading rusher with 193 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
White led the team in receiving with 137 yards on 12 catches for a pair of touchdowns. Pharr had two receptions for 72 yards and a score.
