High-speed chase ends with two arrests Melissa Cason

By Staff
EAST FRANKLIN – Two East Franklin men have been charged with burglary after leading police on a high speed chase down County Road 81 ending at Highway 24.
Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said Ricky Dale Hall, 49, and Raymond Edward Hester, 60, both of 8504 Highway 81 in Phil Campbell, tried to elude deputies Wednesday morning.
"We received a call around 9:30 Wednesday morning of an attempted burglary in the East Franklin area," Plott said. "Investigators had a partial description of the vehicle."
Plott said Hall and Hester's vehicle, a 1995 Chrysler, matched the partial description given to authorities.
"When deputies tried to stop the vehicle matching the description a chase ensued," Plott said. "Speeds in the chase ranged from 70 to 90 miles per hour."
Investigators said that during the course of the chase items were thrown out the window at officers. These items included jewelry, stamp books, a stereo and lots of change.
"All the items thrown out the window were recovered," Plott said. Investigators believe the items recovered were from a burglary on Highway 79 in East Franklin, and anyone who is missing items from their residence should come forward to authorities.
The chase ended at the intersection of Highway 24 and County Road 81.
Hall is charged with second-degree receiving stolen property, criminal littering, public intoxication, and violation of his probation for an escape charge and a burglary charge.
Hester has been charged with second-degree receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment, DUI, and numerous eluding and speeding tickets since he was the driver of the vehicle.
Both men are in the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Plott said the Russellville Police Department and Game and Fish assisted in the pursuit of Hall and Hester.
