Best of luck to All-Star players, coaches

By Staff
For the past two weeks, six teams have represented Franklin County at the District 6 Little League tournament in Sheffield.
We tip our caps to the hustle, team spirit and sportsmanship displayed by the 65 Phil Campbell and Russellville players and 13 volunteer coaches in the 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 age divisions.
Two teams from the county have already clinched state tournament berths and one more local team still has a chance to play in next week's 11-12 state tournament hosted by Sheffield. The winner from this tournament will advance to the Southeast regional tournament.
Only one team from Franklin County has advanced to the regionals, and only two teams from Alabama have played in the Little League World Series, which has been held in Williamsport, Pa., since 1947 for the 11-12 division.
This county's teams have enjoyed a strong showing of support from their families and friends, and we wish you all the best of luck in the coming weeks, which hopefully will include a trip to Pennsylvania.
