Officials looking into baby's death

VINA – Officials are looking into the death of an 8 week-old baby that was found inside the family's home Friday.
A Vina mother found her infant dead Friday morning, officials said.
The infant's mother called 911 prompting the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and local fire departments to the scene.
Sheriff Larry Plott said the mother found the baby unresponsive and attempts to resuscitate the baby were made before officials arrived on the scene.
"Once the paramedics got on the scene it was obvious that the baby had passed away, and the cause of death, at this time, is unknown," Plott said.
The sheriff's department called in the Alabama Bureau of Investigations to assist in the case due to the nature of the call.
"We are following the proper procedures as with any unknown death investigation," Plott said.
He added that an autopsy is part of that procedure.
"We are not saying that anything is wrong here, but the death is still under investigation," Plott said.
Investigators said all cases involving children or unknown circumstances result in a death investigation.
