City Lake open for fishing this week

Local residents will have a couple more options in how they spend their afternoons this week.
The Russellville Parks and Recreation Department will keep the city pool open until 8 a.m. Tuesday. It usually closes at 5:30 p.m.
Instead, on Tuesday, residents have the opportunity to swim from 5 – 8 p.m. with no charge.
Chad Sears, director of the parks and recreation department, said he wanted to give more people a chance to visit the pool.
"It will be a good time for families to come swimming after everyone is home from work that day," Sears said. "It's a good opportunity for families to get out of the house and spend some time together."
The department is also opening City Lake for fishing from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
There has been a no fishing ordinance in place since 2005 so the lake could be restocked with fish.
Sears said the city is asking that everyone release the fish they catch so the pond will stay stocked.
"We want to open the lake up and give everyone a chance to fish there," he said.
"But, we hope everyone throws everything back that they catch."
