The Great Gas Giveaway

The summer I turned 16, gas was about 98 cents per gallon.
I'm not sure if it makes me feel old or sad to look back on that now.
With gas just pennies away from $4 per gallon, I'm not sure I could afford to be a teenager now.
In all my life, I've never been given a free tank of gas, which in my Ford F-150 has a retail value of about $80.
It may sound too good to be true, but thanks to the generosity of our local merchants, a few lucky Franklin Countonians could spend at least part of the summer without having to fork over a dime for a tank of gas.
Inside this edition of the Franklin County Times you'll find the Great Gas Giveaway, sponsored by Webb Oil.
Over the course of the summer, Webb Oil is giving away $1000 in free gas. Unless your morning commute is across a different time zone, you could dive a long time on a grands worth of gas.
Each week, one lucky person will win $50 in free gas from any of Webb's three local stations.
All you've got to do is correctly fill out the blanks on the front page of the special publication inside today's edition and drop it off at one of the three stations.
A drawing will be held every Monday and the winners will be notified.
As gas prices continue to skyrocket, many motorists have the misconception that our local gas companies have something to do with it.
Have you ever noticed that when gas goes up, many of the smaller gas stations go out of business? That's because they can't afford to buy it either. If $4 gas was their golden egg, they'd be installing more pumps, not laying off employees and going out of business.
