Monday update: Grissom announces candidacy for Russellville council seat

By Staff
Local businessman David Reed Grissom has announced that he will be a candidate for the Russellville City Council District 5 seat.
"After many prayers and discussions with my family, I have decided to become a candidate for the citizens of District 5 and the entire city of Russellville," Grissom said.
"I believe my business experience, hard work ethic, leadership ability and my many years of service to the public will help our district and the city of Russellville progress.
"I look forward to talking with the people of District 5 about their concerns and see what the people would like to see done in their city government."
Grissom is a lifelong Russellville resident who currently owns and operates six loan companies in four northwest Alabama counties, including Alabama Gun &Pawn and the Cash Spot in Russell-ville.
He is currently on the board of directors of Community Spirit Bank and on the Russellville Electric Board.
He is a 1990 graduate of Russellville High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of North Alabama.
He is married to Melissa Fuller Grissom, who is a teacher at Russellville High School. The couple has one daughter, named Kate.
They attend Rockwood Baptist Church.
Grissom is a lifetime member of Russellville Masonic Lodge #371, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Cahaba Shrine and a member of the Franklin County Shrine Club.
His parents are the late Robert Reed "Bob" Grissom and Judy Keeton Grissom.
"I look forward to talking with the people of District 5 and to moving our district and the city forward," he said.
"Good paying jobs, a quality education for our children and improved city services for our citizens will be top priorities."
Grissom said any citizen could call him at 332-5617, 332-1108 or 810-8126 any time.
