Spring clean
By Staff
One of the biggest complaints you hear about Russellville is that sometimes, it's not very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
From old and vacant buildings to litter strewn along the highways, the visual impression our city makes is often a bone of contention.
However, in the last few days a concerted effort has been made for a citywide spring-cleaning. Over the past few weeks, the Russellville Police Department has been seen up and down Highway 43 with inmates picking up litter. Last Saturday, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce participated in the People Against a Littered State campaign. People from all over the county joined forces to collect roadside rubbish and make our streets more presentable. Also, this week demolition crews began to remove the remnants of the former storage facility for Dependable True Value. The building was destroyed by fire more than a year ago following a burglary. Our thanks to all for cleaning up our city.
