Saturday update: Smith running for commission seat

By Staff
Greg Smith has announced his intent to run for Franklin Count Commissioner in District 3.
Smith, who currently lives in Russellville, has been a resident of Franklin County for the past 35 years and is a 1987 graduate of Belgreen High School.
He's self-employed as a farmer and also serves a bus driver for the county school system.
Smith currently serves as vice-president of the Franklin County Cattlemen's Association and is a member of the Belgreen Volunteer Fire Department.
Smith said, if elected, he would work hard to push Franklin County forward.
"I've always helped the community in any way that I could," he said. "I want to make changes; changes for the better. I want to make progress. Not the kind of progress you have to tell people what you've done but the kind of progress the community can see for themselves."
Greg has been married to Kim Smith for the past 18 years. The couple has three children: Monica, Jessie and Erica, who each attend Belgreen.
