Progress in your hands

By Staff

In your hands today you hold the 2008 installment of the Franklin County Times Progress edition.
Many hours went into the preparation of this annual event and we are pleased to finally be able to present this to you, our readers.
Progress 2008 is a multi-section look at life and times in Franklin County. It is informative, colorful and filled with articles and pictures about people in Russellville and the surrounding areas.
The 2008 Progress edition marks the fifth of my career and my second one in Franklin County. From a creative aspect, it's challenging to look for different angles and different story ideas year after year.
We strive to compile a fresh product with fresh stories and looking at things outside the box is almost mandatory with this edition.
For a reporter, our Progress edition allows us to let our creative energies run wild. There's no stone left unturned and nothing left to chance.
It is also filled with advertisements from most area businesses, industries and individuals who join with us each year to tell the story of the area's growth over the past 12 months as well as a look into what many see as the future of our area in the months to come.
Progress 2008 will be the single largest edition printed by the Times this year and is the largest Progress edition ever published by this newspaper.
I believe you will enjoy reading about your neighbors as well as the more than 200 area businesses that tell their story on Progress 2008 pages.
I have been amazed at how many people have mentioned today's edition with anticipation. As a reporter, you can only hope that people are both entertained and informed by what you're writing.
It makes you feel good when you hear someone say, "Your Progress edition is coming out pretty soon, isn't it?"
Suddenly the thousands of stories you still have to write that have begun to clog up your mind get a new sense of excitement, because you know at least one person is looking forward to reading them.
We hope you enjoy this year's Progress edition. We have enjoyed the opportunity to present it to you.
