North Star adds third vehicle to fleet

RED BAY- NorthStar Paramedic Service in Red Bay has a new addition to their emergency medical services family.
NorthStar Supervisor Mindy Price said the paramedic service added a third truck to the service's fleet.
"We used to run three trucks all the time, but we were down to two," Price said. "Now we are back up to three."
Price said the truck was brand new with only a few miles on it when it arrived to the service.
"The only miles that were on the truck were from having it painted and getting it ready to hit the road," she said.
The new truck arrived in Red Bay last week, and they began using it right way. However, there were a few modifications made to the truck to ensure patient privacy.
"We added better window tinting to the truck to ensure that no one can see what's going on inside," paramedic Sherri Crowder said. "It's a precaution for patient privacy."
NorthStar Red Bay services the Red Bay area along with other rural areas such as Hodges, Vina and Burnout. In addition to responding to emergencies, the service also transports patients to different health care facilities so it is essential to have good equipment inside the truck and under the hood.
"We are really excited to have a new truck here," Price said. "It will help us better serve the community."
