New station means many things
By Staff
Work on a new Russellville fire station should begin soon. Hovater Metal Works, of Russellville, will construct a 10,625 square feet facility adjacent to the electric board warehouse on South Jackson Avenue near the Alabama 24 ramp.
We are excited for what this could mean for our city, both residents and businesses.
Russellville currently has an ISO rating of 4. The ISO rating system, which is used by insurance companies to determine homeowners' insurance rates, is comprised of three components. The rating is based 50 percent on the fire department, 40 percent on the water supply and 10 percent on 911 communications.
This new station will provide a better balance of station locations, which further improve the city's ISO rating and could reduce insurance premiums.
This not only provides better fire protection for the city, it shows businesses who are looking for an industrial home, Russellville will spare no expense to make sure things get done when they are needed. We're pleased to see this new station and the things it could mean for our city.
