Candidates get their minds right

Gen. George S. Patton said, "If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking."
This statement certainly does not describe the American political parties. As the presidential primaries wind down, we see a diversity of thinking among the candidates. The differences of opinion kept my attention during the debates.
We will have many opportunities to examine the presidential candidate's position on every conceivable issue. We will have to make a decision to vote for Sen. McCain or the Democratic nominee.
Gov. Mike Huckabee explained why he was running for president with his list of core conservative beliefs that he has never wavered from:
"I believe in the Human Life Amendment and I will fight for it from Day 1 of my Presidency.
I believe in the Marriage Amendment.
I believe in massive tax reform and am an advocate of the Fair Tax.
I believe that President Bush's tax cuts should be made permanent.
I believe in the Surge, our troops and Gen. Petraeus.
I believe the Second Amendment is one of the best ways to protect us from tyranny and I will work tirelessly to protect it from activist judges.
I believe in real border security and have proposed a detailed 9 point plan to secure our borders.
I believe the best judge is a conservative judge that won't legislate from the bench."
Gov. Huckabee's beliefs reflect the thinking of most true conservatives. I agree with his values and this is why I supported his candidacy. Senator John McCain has indicated that he will now support these values.
The newspaper and other media accounts of Sens. Clinton and Obama indicate that they are to the left of most of these issues. For the next six months we will have an opportunity to see that Gen. Patton's statement does not apply to the American Presidential Election.
