Athens Bible sweeps Tharptown

TOWN CREEK – The fifth-seeded Tharptown boys fell to No. 4 Athens Bible 56-46 in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 15 tournament Tuesday at Hazelwood.
Tharptown's Joseph Parker scored a game-high 17 points, but A.J. Christ and Ryan Mooring combined for 27 points to qualify the Trojans for a second-round meeting with top-seeded Hazelwood last night.
Jacob Parker added 16 points for the Wildcats, while Trevor Hallmark, Mackinley Flannagin and Manny Ricardo finished with three apiece.

The fourth-seeded Athens Bible girls edged No. 5 Tharptown 60-57 in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 15 tournament Tuesday at Hazelwood.
Tharptown's Hollie Hines led all scorers with 25 points, but the Lady Trojans had four players score in double figures, including 15 points from Jennifer Underwood.
Laken Barnett added 16 points for the Wildcats, while Tosha George and Braeden Sellers each scored six.
