Mildred Taylor, of Isbell, died Feb. 3, 2008, at her residence surrounded by family and close friends. She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Russellville to Louis H. and Mossie Ethel Willis. She graduated from Russellville High School and was a lifelong resident of Franklin County.
She married Howard F. Taylor on June 27, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2007 and they have two sons, Glenn W. Taylor and wife, Cindy, of Florence, and Dale F. Taylor and wife, Sharon, of Birmingham. They also have two grandchildren whom they dearly loved, Melanie Taylor Laird, and husband, John, and Chad Taylor.
Ms. Taylor also had three sisters who were dear to her, Polly Grissom and husband, Homer; Jimmie Lou Hamilton and husband, Billy; and the late Velma Barnes.
Most of all, Mildred loved people and they in turn loved her.
She had a contagious joy in living and a talent for gardening, cooking and really listening to others, always ready to share a laugh or a comforting hug. Her endearing sense of humor often made her the center of attention, but she was unaware of it-an unselfish person who will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew her.
A celebration of Ms. Taylor's life will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the start of the service at 1 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. Pastor Corey Cochran will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens.
The family appreciates the care and support of her special hospice caregivers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Isbell Methodist Church, 10821 Highway 43, Russellville, AL 35653.
