Joseph (Joe) Turbyfill, 77, of Orange Beach, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, in Pensacola, Fla.
The visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
His parents, John and Sula Turbyfill, of Russellville, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Edna Underwood, of Spruce Pine; two daughters, Pamela Woods and husband, John, of Clinton, Miss., and Sherry Pettite and husband, Jessie, of Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Allison and Hannah Woods, of Mississippi; one brother, Hoyt Turbyfill and wife, Margie, of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Betty Tinsley and husband, Ellis, of Wilmington, N.C., Arma Hendrix and husband, Howard, of Decatur, and Judy Meeks, of Muscle Shoals, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Turbyfill was born in Russellville on Sept. 29, 1930, attended the University of North Alabama and was a member of Summerdale Church of Christ. Following college, he served in the 31st Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his time in the service, he started his career with Chemstrand in Decatur, which was later acquired by Monsanto, where he held several positions. He spent 30 years working in St. Louis before retiring from Monsanto as comptroller of the fiber division.

Ruby Jean Hamilton, 73, of Russellville, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Russellville Health Care.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Spry Memorial Chapel. Bro. Andy Cansler will be officiating with burial to follow in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lovett, Jace Hamilton, Ricky McAnally, Johnny Hester, Gary Hester, Robin Grissom and Randy Benford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Allen Hamilton; parents, Clay and Mary Catherine Lawler and nine siblings.
She is survived by her son, Randy Hamilton; daughter, Shelia Malone; grandchildren, Kendall Hamilton, Jace Hamilton, Alan Malone and Julie Malone; great-granddaughter, Reece Hamilton; special niece, Judy Gates; brother, Hulon Lawler and sister, Betty Sue Fleming and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Russellville Health Care "Activity Fund" in memory of Ruby Hamilton, 705 NE Gandy St., Russellville, AL 35653.
