Lady Bobcats snuff Shoals Christian

PHIL CAMPBELL – Chasity Morgan scored 10 of her game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter as the Phil Campbell girls defeated Shoals Christian 45-40 Monday night.
With Phil Campbell trailing 37-34 with five minutes remaining in the game, Jessica Taylor came up with a steal and Morgan made a driving layup to give the Lady Bobcats their first lead since early in the first quarter.
Her basket sparked a 10-1 run for Phil Campbell, which trailed by as many as five points in each of the first three quarters but the Lady Bobcats kept battling back.
Shoals Christian (9-13) led 12-7 in the first, but Morgan hit a jumper at the buzzer to cut deficit to three points. The Lady Flame led 19-13 midway through the second period until Phil Campbell responded with a 7-2 run to trail only 22-20 at halftime.
Mackenzie Bishop, who had a team-high 17 points, drained a jump shot with three minutes left in the third to put Shoals Christian ahead again by six, but Alissa Smith banked in a jumper and Morgan scored three points to cut the margin to 35-31 heading into the fourth.
Smith finished with 10 points for Phil Campbell (8-14), while Shannon Gasaway and Jessica Taylor had three apiece and Whitley Yocum added two.

The Shoals Christian boys used a big run in the fourth quarter to beat Phil Campbell 67-57 Monday night.
The Flame opened the game with a 7-0 run before Phil Campbell responded with eight straight points and briefly led 10-9 after Lawrence Butts drove in for a layup.
But Shoals Christian answered with a 13-4 run to lead 22-14 in the second before Phil Campbell managed to whittle the deficit at halftime to 31-29 thanks to 3-pointers by Butts and Adam Mitchell and a layup from Pablo Santiago.
In the third, the Bobcats cut the Flame's lead to 45-44 with two minutes remaining in the quarter. Shoals Christian then reeled off eight straight points and led 53-44 before Tanner Maddox drained a trey from the left corner to trim the lead to six points again.
Shoals Christian opened the final quarter with a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Butts paced Phil Campbell with 16 points, whle Maddox had 13 and Dill added seven.
Daniel Almon had a game-high 22 points, and Ben Kahler finished with 19 for Shoals Christian.

The Phil Campbell B-boys used a full-court press to harass visiting Shoals Christian as the Bobcats won easily 58-39 Monday night.
Matt Waid scored a game-high 18 points for the Bobcats, while Austin Nix had 15 and Dillan Hamby added 11.
Charlie Kelly, Jay Stephenson and Chandler Russ scored six points apiece to lead the Flame.
