Some useful and some useless facts

Jerry Fancher
Have you ever been called by a polling company? I have. The questions are sometimes leading; sometimes ambiguous and sometimes the choice is clear. The media loves them, but most of the voters are skeptical of them.
I find it difficult to believe that you can call 500 people and predict the outcome of an election. I am thankful that the poll that counts is when we vote on election day.
The national news and national media are reporting that one candidate is gaining, another is fading, and most have flip-flopped on some issue. I read about one poll that reports that most voters have flip-flopped on who they are supporting. This poll found that most voters are having a difficult time finding a candidate that they are certain to vote for in the presidential primary in their state.
Here is some statistics you may find interesting:
Alabama has voted as follows in the past five elections:
1988 Dukakis 40% – Bush 59%
1992 Clinton 41% – Bush 48%
1996 Clinton 43% – Dole 50%
2000 Gore 42% – Bush 56%
2004 Kerry 37% – Bush 62%
The percentage of registered voters by race in the United States and Alabama are as follows:
U.S. Alabama
Caucasian 66 69
Hispanic 15 2
African American 12 26
Asian 4 1
Other 3 2
More than ever your candidate needs your support. Get involved; your candidate needs your help.
The Alabama Presidential Primary is February 5, 2008.
You have an opportunity to make your voice heard by working for the candidate that you are supporting. You will not regret helping the candidate of your choice win in Alabama.
