Montgomery breaks school kicking records
Josh Montgomery, a senior placekicker for Russellville High School, has moved past former Golden Tigers kicker Elliot Bishop to become the school's all-time leader in career PATs.
Montgomery, who is No. 10 on the AHSAA career list for extra points, was 2-of-2 on PATs in last Friday's second-round playoff loss at Briarwood to improve to 42-of-44 this season. His 131 career extra points moved him past Bishop's career mark of 129 extra points. He also holds school game records for most field goals made (2) and PATs made (9) and career marks for most field goals made (11) and most points kicking (164).
Phil Campbell sweeps Phillips
The Phil Campbell varsity basketball teams swept Phillips at home last Friday.
The varsity girls began the final quarter tied at 28 with Phillips, but the Lady Bobcats used a 19-6 run to win 46-34.
Chasity Morgan led Phil Campbell with a game-high 18 points. Jessica Taylor had a double-double with 15 points and 20 rebounds, and Tatum Benford added 12 rebounds.
Erica Martin had 10 points for the Lady Bears.
The varsity boys edged Phillips 52-50 as Tanner Maddox drained five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Caleb Thompson tied Maddox for the game-high with 15 points.

The Phil Campbell junior varsity home game against Belgreen has been moved from Friday, November 2 to Friday, November 30.
Resort announces benefit tourney
December 6
FLORENCE – The first annual Doublehead Resort Sporting Clay Benefit will be held Friday, December 6 at the resort's multi-station sporting clay course. The five-member teams will enjoy a day of shooting that will also include breakfast, lunch, shooter's package and prizes. The entry fee is $500 per team, and all proceeds will benefit the Northwest Alabama Community Health Association.
