RHS halts Raiders, improves to 7-6

MUSCLE SHOALS – The Russellville High School varsity volleyball team improved to 7-6 after last Saturday's tournament hosted by Muscle Shoals High School.
During the invitational tournament, the Lady Golden Tigers played three schools, including Decatur, Curry and Deshler. They defeated Decatur 25-16, 25-23 but dropped matches to Curry (25-16, 16-25, 6-15) and Deshler (17-25, 16-25).
Russellville played last night at region rival Athens and will play again Thursday as the Lady Golden Tigers host Florence and Dectur in Region 8 action.
In three matches, junior outside hitter Cassie Montgomery led Russellville with 10 kills, and senior setter Anne-Marie Hall had a team-high 30 assists, along with six aces and seven digs.
Sophomore middle hitter Erin Reynolds pounded a team-high 15 aces, while junior middle hitter Ariel Howard provided 15 digs, five aces and five kills. Junior libero Halie Harvey added 12 digs.
