Video project to document Red Bay's history

RED BAY-The City of Red Bay is turning 100 in a few weeks. And while the official birthday bash won't be until September, everyone is getting ready for the celebration with special projects to commemorate the event.
One special project for the celebration is the media presentation produced through home movies from the residents of Red Bay, compiled by Scotty Kennedy.
"We were looking for home movies with old buildings in the background to get a picture of the way Red Bay used to look," Kennedy said.
The footage will include video showing the town and the school, along with interviews from people who remember the way Red Bay was decades ago, Kennedy said.
"There will be a short presentation of the footage after the entertainment during the Founder's Fest," Kennedy said.
The footage in its entirety will be available for public purchase at the event.
"We are not sure if we are going to have copies ready that night or not," Kennedy said. "If we have copies, we will sell them that night; otherwise copies can be purchase through the [Red Bay] museum."
Kennedy has been collecting the movies for a few weeks, and has collected more 100 movies from various people. While the movies have already been picked up, Kennedy said that anyone with movies can still drop them off at his photography studio since they don't not know exactly what is on the reels, and what can and cannot be used.
"These are the old eight millimeter film, and they haven't been viewed in years because we don't have those kinds of projectors anyone," Kennedy said. "Additional footage is very welcomed and may be needed."
