A recent string of church and home burglaries have prompted the Franklin County Sheriff Department to offer a reward for anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest.
Sheriff Larry Plott said the rash of thefts began with a break in at Gray Rock Church off Highway 40 April 7. The suspects damaged a door and a window, and took less than $100 in cash.
The next day, Beulah Baptist Church, off Highway 138, was burglarized. A window was damaged but the thieves made off with a DVD player and a small safe containing about $300.
May 10, Bethel Church on County Road 79 was victimized. Plott said there was about $400 in damage done to the church and a Peavy sound system, a DVD player and $500 was taken from inside.
"There were also some homes around the area of these churches that were burglarized about the same time," Plott said. "We feel like they are all related and we hope by offering this reward, we can put an end to all of it."
There is a $1200 reward being offered to anyone who can provide enough information to law enforcement that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the break-ins.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 332-8811.
