Junior Leadership puts local students on the right track
By Staff
The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce's Junior Leadership Program gives students the extra edge they may need to be successful in both college and the career field.
While being a good student is a key to being successful, the ideals and approaches you can learn from a leadership class offer a whole new perspective on the world.
Students learn reading, writing and arithmetic in school, but leadership classes can teach them about success outside the academic world.
Many business and organizations ask that employees join a civic organization such as a Rotary Club or Lions Club.
Being engaged in civic activities helps successful companies put resources back into the communities where they thrive.
In organizations and programs like Junior Leadership, students get a firsthand look at how important giving back to your community is.
Whether it's planting flowers around town, donating glasses to Alabama Sight or volunteering time at a local senior center, the more time students spend giving back to the community, the more they will learn about their community. We applaud Lisa Stockton and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce for seeing this void and filling it with a program that benefits all of Franklin County. Nothing is more important than properly grooming our future leaders.
