Red Bay topples Lexington, Lauderdale County

RED BAY – The Red Bay Tigers hosted a three-team jamboree game Friday night at Fred G. Bostick Stadium.
In a 2A matchup, Red Bay shut out the Lexington Golden Bears 21-0 in the second game and pulled off a 15-14 win over 3A Lauderdale County.
Red Bay struck first when Josh Senkbell took a handoff from Cody Palmer and scored from two yards out to go ahead 7-0.
Lexington tried to answer with a score of its own, but a fumble forced the Golden Bears to punt the ball away.
Red Bay came back strong on its next possesion in the second quarter with a fourth-down conversion by Pablo Makepeace that kept the drive alive for the Tigers.
A pass interference penalty and a pitch to Joe McKinney for a first down put Red Bay on its own 2-yard line, and Pablo Makepeace recovered a fumble on a busted play in the end zone to push the score to 14-0.
Carlos Makepeace tacked on another six points for the Tigers with a 50-yard return for a touchdown. Pablo Makepeace put the final nail in the coffin when he drilled his third straight point-after attempt.
Lauderdale County matched up more evenly with Red Bay in the last game of the night.
LCHS struck on its second possession of the game when Ryan Cowan ran in from 5 yards out to put LCHS ahead 7-0.
Red Bay answered with its own score late in the game to tie the game, and faked a field goal and went for the 2 point conversion to tie the game.
With the score tied at the end of regulation, the game went into overtime. Red Bay tacked another seven on the board with a touchdown by Chad Hamm.
LCHS got one final chance to post points on the board, and another earn another six, but a botched two-point conversion ended the game and gave Red Bay the victory over LCHS.
